Colorado Peace Officer Certification Review The Study Guide The Colorado Peace Officer Certification Review (the "Blue Book") is a comprehensive study guide that covers all the testable areas on the state exam. The guide is divided into three sections that provide focus and organization for recruits, lateral hires and those individuals seeking to re-certify as Colorado peace officers. Part I contains four condensed but very detailed and informative outlines covering Victim's' Rights, Legal Liabilities, the Colorado Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure (search and seizure) as well as two pre-assessment exams to prepare the student for the practice exams in Part II.
Part II contains twelve practice examinations written in the same fashion (root and stem of the question and four possible distracters) as the state exam. The answer sheet is attached to the end of each examination so that students can immediately verify their level of competency. These exams cover all of the testable areas: Children's Code, Traffic/DUI, Human Rights/Victim's Rights, Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure and Federal Code.
Part III contains several topic-based questions with the most appropriate answer for that type of scenario. Presentation Certainly the Blue Book can be used by the student as a self-paced study guide. However, the most effective way for the student to prepare for the state exam, as well as building competency as a law enforcement officer, is to attend the course in its entirety. The prep course includes an in-depth presentation on the Colorado Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure. This is critically important since 60% of the state exam covers these two areas. There are thirty questions on each area on the state exam. The outlines are detailed and easy to understand. The instructor also illustrates several real life examples and scenarios for each crime and how the statutory elements relate to street level police work that's understandable for day to day functioning at the patrol level. In addition to the criminal code and criminal procedure, the presentation portion also includes victim's rights, and legal liabilities. Cost The cost of the presentation and the 256 page study guide with practice examinations is $75.00 per student. Discounts may apply for large classes and presentations. Please contact us for further information. The study guide may also be purchased without the presentation at a cost of $75.00 (includes any postage/shipping).
